But not all characters left the same impact. Here's my personal ranking, from weakest to strongest, based on narrative contribution, character development, and overall presence in the journey.   8. Hero (The Luminary) –  Silent,  and Not in a Good Way Let’s just get this out of the way: the Hero may be the protagonist, but he’s the least interesting member of the party. His lack of voice or agency in emotional scenes turns what could’ve been a deeply personal story into a series of reactions from others. While he’s central to the plot mechanically, he never truly feels like the heart of the story. In a cast overflowing with personality, the silent protagonist trope falls flat here. 7. Tales of Vesperia – Ranking the Playable Characters (Worst to Best)

It’s purely based on how I connected with each character on a personal level —their personality, their arc, and how much they stood out over the course of the game. Tales of Vesperia has one of the strongest casts in the JRPG genre, but that doesn’t mean they all hit the same for me.      So,  with that said, here’s how the party shook out for me— from worst to best : 9. Repede      I get it— he’s cool-looking. The whole pipe-smoking wolf thing is unique and undeniably stylish. But beyond his aesthetic, there’s just not much to grab onto. The story begins with a fairly localized and low-stakes conflict—tracking down a stolen blastia core—but gradually evolves into a much broader tale involving ancient technology, political corruption, and cosmic-scale threats like the Adephagos.      The narrative is divided into several major arcs, starting with relatively mundane city-based disputes and later unfolding into epic confrontations with ancient beings and moral dilemmas around power and sacrifice.
