Ranking the Characters in One Piece Odyssey

In One Piece Odyssey, players get to experience the Straw Hats in a fresh way alongside a handful of new and returning characters. While the anime provides a deep connection to many of these icons, this ranking is based solely on their portrayal and usefulness in the game.

1. Lim

Lim takes the top spot as the character with the most emotional stakes in the story. Her journey from distrust and isolation to understanding the power of friendship is the beating heart of the narrative. Lim’s arc is the most memorable, making her the clear standout.

2. Luffy

It’s no surprise that Luffy ranks high. As the captain and the strongest character, his power and versatility in combat make him invaluable. Whether it’s dealing heavy damage or rallying the crew, Luffy feels every bit the hero he’s meant to be.

3. Zoro

Zoro’s strength in combat makes him an indispensable part of the team. His raw power and ability to clear enemies with ease keep him at the forefront during battles.

4. Nami

Nami was a pleasant surprise. Her damage output exceeded expectations, surpassing even fighters like Franky. She may not be a brawler, but she proves her worth in every encounter.

5. Usopp

Usopp’s ability to attack other areas without relying on TP was a game-changer. His strategic utility earns him a spot in the top five.

6. Chopper

As the crew’s healer, Chopper is a reliable support character. While he doesn’t shine offensively, his role in keeping the team alive cannot be overlooked.

7. Sanji

Sanji’s personality is true to the source material, but his inability to attack female enemies feels like a missed opportunity in a game. While amusing in the anime, it’s a hindrance here.

8. Robin

Robin’s combat damage felt underwhelming compared to others. Despite her utility in story progression, she didn’t stand out much in battles.

9. Brook

Brook’s low damage output was disappointing. While his quirky personality shines through, his combat effectiveness leaves much to be desired.

10. Franky

Franky suffers the same issue as Brook, with surprisingly low damage for someone meant to be a powerhouse. Nami outperforming him is a testament to the imbalance.

11. Law

Law’s high damage output is impressive, but his inclusion feels hollow since he’s not a controllable character. This limitation diminishes his impact.

12. Sabo

Sabo, like Law, is a non-playable character, and while his damage is excellent, the inability to command him makes him less engaging. Law’s slight edge puts Sabo lower on the list.

13. Vivi

As one of the most iconic One Piece characters, Vivi’s absence from the party is baffling. Her lack of inclusion feels like a missed opportunity to celebrate her legacy.

14. Rebecca

Rebecca may not be as prominent as Vivi, but her omission from the party is equally disappointing. As a character tied to one of the game’s revisited arcs, her presence could have added depth.

15. Adio

Adio falls flat as a villain. His predictable motivations and lack of depth make him the weakest character in the narrative. His temporary presence in the party without being playable further detracts from his role.

16. Cavendish

Cavendish’s inclusion is puzzling, especially when more iconic characters like Vivi and Rebecca are absent. As a non-playable character, his impact is minimal.

17. Young Franky

Why include a pre-time skip version of Franky when his post-time skip version is already available? This choice feels redundant and unnecessary, cementing Young Franky at the bottom of the list.

Final Thoughts

While One Piece Odyssey does a great job bringing beloved characters to life, the game’s handling of certain characters feels uneven. Lim shines as the emotional core of the game, while others like Vivi and Rebecca are glaringly absent from meaningful roles. Balancing character utility and narrative importance is key to creating a memorable experience, and this is where the game stumbles.
